2.5 Million Nigehban Ramzan Cards Distributed Across Punjab Uzma Bukhari

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari announced that more than 2.5 million Nigehban Ramzan cards have been distributed across the province as part of the government’s relief program for the holy month.

Speaking at a joint press conference alongside Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, Bukhari said the provincial government is introducing major initiatives to support citizens during Ramzan. She added that the government is also working to improve living conditions in smaller cities across Punjab.

According to the minister, a total of 2,503,897 Nigehban Ramzan cards have been distributed so far. Out of these, more than 2.1 million beneficiaries have already withdrawn their financial assistance.

Bukhari further stated that from the first of Ramzan until March 1, citizens have participated in government-organized Iftar arrangements at 422 locations across the province. In addition, facilities are currently being provided at 1,763 Nigehban Ramzan bazaars, where essential items are available at controlled prices.

She also highlighted progress under the Punjab Development Programme. The cost of the initiative has been increased, and more than 67 cities are currently being overseen by local governments for development projects.

Under the program, local governments will lay 6,100 kilometres of sewerage lines to improve sanitation infrastructure. Furthermore, 189 kilometres of strong water drains will be constructed, while 181 local government bodies will oversee drainage projects.

The minister added that authorities will build 83 disposal stations and nine underground water tanks to improve water management systems. Additionally, 358 housing-related projects will be implemented through local government departments.

Officials say these initiatives aim to improve public services, strengthen infrastructure, and provide financial relief to citizens during the holy month.
