Overseas Pakistanis remittances 2025

KARACHI: Overseas Pakistanis remitted $40.18 billion to the country in 2025, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), highlighting the continued importance of workers’ remittances to the national economy.

The central bank reported that $3.58 billion was sent home in December alone. Of this amount, Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia contributed $810 million, followed by $720 million from the United Arab Emirates, $560 million from the United Kingdom, and $490 million from European countries.

According to the SBP, remittance inflows fluctuated throughout the year, with January 2025 recording the lowest monthly inflow at $3 billion, while March 2025 saw the highest at $4.05 billion.

The data further showed that average monthly workers’ remittances in 2025 stood at $3.34 billion, underlining the steady contribution of overseas Pakistanis despite global economic pressures.

Economists say remittances remain a crucial source of foreign exchange, helping stabilise Pakistan’s external accounts amid ongoing fiscal and balance-of-payments challenges.
