During their meeting in Tibet, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani briefed Afghanistan’s Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on challenges affecting regional peace. The interim government has issued a 28-day ultimatum, expiring on November 1, for all illegal immigrants, including Afghan refugees, to leave voluntarily or face forceful expulsion.
Jilani emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to address security challenges for regional peace and stability.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Afghanistan. The decision to expel illegal migrants follows an increase in unlawful and terror activities, with Afghan nationals involved.
Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti revealed that 14 of this year’s 24 suicide bombings were carried out by Afghan nationals.
The move has stirred controversy, with the Taliban deeming Pakistan’s plan to evict Afghan migrants as “unacceptable.”
