ISLAMABAD: On Independence Day, the Federal Government announced the abolition of visa fees for citizens of 126 countries. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar revealed that the new policy took effect from noon on Tuesday.
The move aims to simplify international travel to Pakistan, showcasing the country’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. “Pakistan is blessed with every natural blessing, and we want to attract tourists from around the globe,” said the minister.
Under the new policy, visitors from the 126 designated countries can apply for a 90-day visa by filling out a simplified form with just 30 questions. The visa will be issued immediately upon completion of the form, reducing previous bureaucratic delays.

Special provisions are also in place for residents of Gulf countries, who can obtain visas upon arrival by presenting their passports.
“The doors of Pakistan are being opened to the world.” Minister Tarar declared, highlighting this initiative as part of a broader strategy to enhance the country’s international image and attract more foreign visitors.
He assured that the safety and security of tourists are top priorities. Security agencies being kept informed and coordination with provincial governments for robust security arrangements.
Additionally, the minister emphasized the growth in the tourism sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. Where efforts are underway to promote quality and affordable accommodation. Further boosting the region’s appeal as a top destination.
