Senior air force leaders from Pakistan and Bangladesh held extensive discussions in Islamabad, focusing on expanding defence and aerospace cooperation, including the potential acquisition of JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Bangladesh Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, visited Pakistan for official talks with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, accompanied by a senior defence delegation.
The meetings emphasized enhancing professional collaboration between the two air forces, with special attention on joint training programs, capacity building, and cooperation in aerospace technology.
Upon arrival, the visiting delegation was received with a guard of honour. The PAF chief briefed his Bangladeshi counterpart on recent developments within the Pakistan Air Force and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh through structured training programs, from basic instruction to advanced specialized courses. Delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft will also be expedited, along with long-term technical support and a comprehensive training framework.
Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan praised the operational capabilities of the PAF and expressed interest in learning from its experience. He also discussed collaboration on maintaining Bangladesh’s older aircraft fleet and integrating air defence radar systems to strengthen aerial surveillance.
In-depth talks were held regarding the potential procurement of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, a multi-role aircraft jointly developed by Pakistan and China. The visiting delegation also toured key PAF facilities during their stay.
The visit underscored the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding defence cooperation and building a sustained strategic partnership.
