Pakistan has welcomed the approval of United Nations Security Council resolution 2728, which calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan.
In an official statement, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated, “We welcome the Security Council’s decision to urge the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, the removal of all barriers to such aid, and the protection of civilians throughout Gaza.”
“Over the past six months, Pakistan has consistently condemned Israel’s indiscriminate use of force and has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza, the return of displaced Palestinians, and accountability for Israel’s actions,” the spokesperson continued.
“We urge the swift implementation of the Security Council resolution passed today, with the hope that it will initiate steps to end Israel’s aggressive actions, establish a lasting ceasefire, and alleviate the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza.”
“Pakistan remains committed to advocating for a fair, comprehensive, and lasting resolution, including the establishment of a secure, viable, and sovereign State of Palestine along the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” the spokesperson concluded.
