On the special instructions of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), the Pakistan Army has set up a Grief Counseling Cell. This initiative is designed to support the families of martyrs and ensure their welfare.
The main purpose of the Grief Counseling Cell is to establish direct and immediate communication with the families of martyrs. According to official details, special support teams have been created as part of this initiative. These teams consist of army officers and trained psychologists.
After a soldier’s martyrdom, the support team visits the martyr’s ancestral home. They offer condolences to the grieving family. Psychologists in the team hold detailed sessions with family members to ease their emotional stress.
In the second phase, the Grief Counseling Cell gathers vital information about the heirs’ needs. This includes their economic, social, housing, and educational requirements. The team also informs the families about various welfare schemes and ensures they receive the benefits and facilities they are entitled to.
The Chief of Army Staff personally honors the martyrs. He places floral wreaths on their graves and recites Fatiha for their eternal peace.
Though no action can replace the loss of a loved one, the Grief Counseling Cell offers hope and comfort to the families. This support system highlights the Pakistan Army’s deep respect for its martyrs. Martyrs are the pride of the nation, and this initiative demonstrates that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
