Pakistan’s security forces eliminated eight Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Friday.
According to the ISPR, the operation was launched after credible intelligence regarding the presence of Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area. “During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged Khawarij locations, and after an intense exchange of fire, eight Indian-backed terrorists were sent to hell,” the statement said.
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site. The slain terrorists were involved in multiple attacks on security forces and the killing of innocent civilians. A sanitisation operation is underway to ensure no remaining militants are present in the region.
Pakistan continues to face a surge in terrorism since the Afghan Taliban takeover in 2021, with over 600 terror incidents recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the first eight months of 2025 alone.
Earlier in the day, three policemen, including SP Operations Asad Zubair, embraced martyrdom after their vehicle was targeted by an IED blast in Hangu district.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan. Recent cross-border attacks led to retaliatory precision strikes by Pakistan, which killed over 200 Afghan Taliban and affiliated militants earlier this month.
Following heavy clashes that martyred 23 Pakistani soldiers, both countries agreed to a ceasefire, with delegations set to meet in Istanbul, Turkiye, on October 25 to discuss the truce’s implementation.
