Three soldiers of the Pakistan Army, including a major, lost their lives in the Mastung terrorist attack. The assault took place when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a military vehicle in Balochistan’s Mastung district. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the tragic incident.
Major Rizwan Tahir was martyred in the IED blast. Along with him, two other brave soldiers also embraced martyrdom — Naik Ibni Amin, aged 37, from Swabi, and Lance Naik Muhammad Younas, aged 33, from Karak. Major Tahir had been actively involved in several counter-terrorism missions across the country.
Soon after the Mastung terrorist attack, security forces launched a swift response. An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was carried out in the region. During the operation, four militants linked to Indian-sponsored networks were eliminated. The ISPR stated that the sanitisation process is still underway, as there may be more terrorists hiding in the area.
The military said that the sacrifices of these brave sons of the soil further strengthen the national commitment to wipe out terrorism. The martyrdom of Major Rizwan and his companions will not be in vain.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the Mastung terrorist attack. He blamed Indian-backed elements for the brutal assault. Bugti said that the attack was not just against the security forces, but against Pakistan’s peace and stability.
In a press statement, Bugti vowed that the enemy’s evil plans would never succeed. He paid rich tribute to Major Rizwan Tahir and the two other martyrs. Their sacrifice, he said, was for the motherland, and it commands the deepest respect. Bugti added that every single terror incident would be avenged.
The Chief Minister made it clear that the nation stands united with the martyrs and their families. He assured that the bereaved families would never be abandoned. He pledged a firm and decisive response to every militant strike carried out on Pakistani soil.
The Mastung terrorist attack is a harsh reminder of the threats facing the country. Yet, the courage and sacrifice of Pakistan’s soldiers remain stronger than fear.
