Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by militants across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, security sources reported.
According to details, on July 17 at around 5:00 p.m., a group of extremists tried to cross into Pakistan. Acting on intelligence, security forces set up checkpoints at five different locations. At 6:25 p.m., the infiltrators managed to cross the border and advanced towards Aziz Khel and Mandi Khel.
Due to the strong presence of security forces, the militants took refuge inside a mosque in Basi Khel. The mosque was swiftly surrounded, and through a carefully planned strategy, the infiltrators were forced to surrender without any resistance.
All five arrested suspects are Afghan nationals, with three of them carrying Afghan identity cards. The detainees, aged between 15 and 18, were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. Security authorities have issued a high alert in border areas and continue comprehensive search operations.
This was not the first infiltration attempt from across the border. Between April 25 and 27, 2025, security forces killed 71 extremists in North Waziristan during a major operation. On July 4, 2025, 30 India-backed militants were neutralized while trying to cross into Pakistan. Similarly, on March 23, 2025, 16 infiltrators were killed in another attempt.
Intelligence reports confirm that such infiltration attempts and terrorist activities inside Pakistan receive full backing from India.
