General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired a Special Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today.
The high-level military forum reviewed the overall geo-strategic situation. The main focus remained on the Pakistan-India standoff and the evolving regional security landscape.
The commanders confirmed the armed forces’ firm resolve. They vowed to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and borders at any cost. The COAS praised the high morale, professionalism, and readiness of the troops. He appreciated their unity with the people of Pakistan in standing against any threat. General Munir stressed the need for full vigilance and strong operational preparedness on every front.
Deep concern was raised about India’s growing aggression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The forum strongly condemned the recent Pahalgam incident. Indian forces continue to target civilians near the Line of Control (LoC), which only fuels the Pakistan-India conflict. These brutal and unjustified acts were called out as escalatory moves.
The military forum stated such actions will receive a firm and appropriate response. Commanders discussed India’s repeated pattern of using crises for political and military gains. They said India has often blamed others to hide its own internal failures. A similar method was used in 2019. After the Pulwama attack, India changed the status of Kashmir by removing Article 370. That step was condemned globally and worsened the Indo-Pak rivalry.
Now, the same formula seems to be at work again. The Pahalgam incident appears planned. Its purpose is to shift Pakistan’s attention from its western front and national economy. The forum declared this strategy a failure. Pakistan’s gains on both fronts are steady and irreversible. Such tricks will not help India’s terror-linked agents.
The forum also highlighted a serious concern. India is now using the Pahalgam episode to target the Indus Waters Treaty. It is trying to take away Pakistan’s water rights. This is seen as an attempt to weaponize water, which could damage the livelihood of over 240 million people. The regional friction could increase if this continues.
The commanders stood united. They vowed to counter every attempt to disturb peace. The border standoff will be met with strength and clarity
