The celebrations begin with a grand thirty-one gun salute in Islamabad and a twenty-one gun salute at provincial headquarters. Special prayers will be offered at dawn in mosques across the country, seeking peace, solidarity, and prosperity for the nation.
A key highlight of the day will be the national flag hoisting ceremony in Islamabad, attended by prominent government officials and dignitaries. Similar flag-hoisting ceremonies will be held at provincial, divisional, and district headquarters nationwide, reinforcing a sense of unity and national pride.
In preparation for the celebrations, cities have been adorned with patriotic decorations. Roadside stalls are bustling with flags, badges, stickers, and themed clothing for all ages. Public and private buildings are illuminated with colorful lights, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a message on Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, said the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and prosperous nation. He highlighted that recent economic initiatives are beginning to show positive results.
“Within a short period, our efforts have begun to bear fruit. The economy is stabilizing, with inflation dropping from 38% to 11.1% in July, and we are working towards reducing it to single digits soon, Inshallah,” the Prime Minister stated.
He extended warm congratulations to the citizens and honored the sacrifices of the forefathers and unsung heroes of the Pakistan Movement, which led to Pakistan’s creation on August 14, 1947, under the steadfast leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
