The National Security Committee (NSC) met under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to address the serious developments following recent Indian aggression. The committee began the session with a prayer for the innocent civilians martyred in the unlawful strikes by India. Members offered their condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for the wounded.
The NSC discussed the alarming consequences of India’s unprovoked attacks. During the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, Indian forces carried out coordinated missile, drone, and air strikes on Pakistani territory. The areas hit included Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. These assaults were launched without justification and targeted civilian zones under the false claim of eliminating terrorist camps.
India’s baseless offensive led to the martyrdom of innocent men, women, and children. Mosques and vital civilian infrastructure were also damaged. The Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project came under fire, clearly violating global conventions. Commercial airlines from friendly Gulf nations were endangered, placing the lives of thousands of passengers at serious risk.
The NSC condemned these attacks as a direct violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a clear act of war under international law. The deliberate targeting of civilians by the Indian military was described as both disgraceful and criminal. Such actions defy every standard of decency and break multiple international legal norms.
Pakistan has repeatedly denied India’s claims about terror camps on its land. After the April 22 incident in Pahalgam, Pakistan had offered a neutral and transparent investigation. India refused. On May 6, international journalists visited the supposed terror sites and found nothing. Another visit was scheduled for May 7. However, to hide its false narrative, India chose to attack instead of waiting for the truth.
This shameful Indian aggression serves political goals, not national security. It is a reckless act that has lit the flames of conflict in the region. Pakistan holds India fully responsible for any consequences that may follow.
The Pakistani Armed Forces acted swiftly in self-defense. They defended every inch of national territory, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In the process, they shot down five Indian fighter jets and several drones.
Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Pakistan reserves the right to respond in self-defense. This response will be at a time, place, and manner of Pakistan’s choosing. The NSC has granted full authority to the military for future actions.
The people of Pakistan stand united. They praise the courage of their forces and support every measure taken to protect the homeland. Despite this Indian hostility, Pakistan remains committed to peace—one that comes with dignity and national honor.
The NSC called upon the global community to take notice of India’s unjustified and dangerous actions. The world must hold India accountable for violating international laws.
Pakistan made it clear: it will never allow its sovereignty to be threatened. The country will always protect its land and people with full force.
