Pakistan has strongly dismissed India’s accusations regarding the Pahalgam attack, calling them misleading and politically motivated. Islamabad has urged New Delhi to stop playing the roles of judge, jury, and executioner in matters involving cross-border conflict.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan made this statement on Wednesday. He responded to what he called “provocative and false claims” made by Indian leaders during the recent Lok Sabha debate. The discussion focused on the so-called Operation Sindoor.
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the parliament, claimed that Indian security forces recovered Pakistani voter identity cards. He also alleged they found locally made chocolates near three men killed in a gunfight in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to Shah, those men were involved in the Pahalgam incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the same session. He dismissed earlier claims by US President Donald Trump, who said he had played a role in stopping India from escalating conflict with Pakistan. Modi insisted that no world leader had pressured India to hold back.
Responding to these remarks, Shafqat Ali Khan said the statements exposed a dangerous mindset. He accused India of distorting facts and glorifying war for internal political gain.
He emphasized that India attacked Pakistan without offering any verifiable evidence or completing any credible investigation into the Pahalgam violence. According to him, during the night of 6 and 7 May 2025, India targeted what it claimed was a terrorist base. However, the strikes actually martyred innocent civilians, including women and children.
The spokesperson said India failed to achieve its military goals. In contrast, Pakistan successfully neutralized Indian fighter jets and other military targets. He called this response a “resounding success” and said it was backed by undeniable facts.
Shafqat Ali Khan urged Indian leaders to admit their military losses. He also asked them to recognize the role of third parties in bringing about the ceasefire. Instead of accepting this reality, he said, India continues to mislead its own citizens.
Pakistan had offered an independent and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam assault, said the FO spokesperson. However, India ignored this offer. Instead, it chose the path of hostility and reckless aggression.
Shafqat further dismissed the so-called Operation Mahadev. He said it held no value for Pakistan. He labeled the Indian home minister’s version of events as full of fabrications and falsehoods.
He raised a serious question: Was it just a coincidence that the men blamed for the Pahalgam attack were killed right before the Lok Sabha debate? He hinted that the timing was suspicious and politically convenient.
