Drone Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Foiled

Pakistan Downs Taliban Drones

Drone Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were foiled on Friday after militants attempted to target several cities, including Swabi, Abbottabad, and Nowshera. Security officials said Pakistan’s anti-drone system successfully intercepted and destroyed all incoming drones before they could cause major damage.

According to security sources, the attempted strikes exposed what officials describe as an Afghan Taliban link to terrorism inside Pakistan. They said the failed operation once again highlighted cross-border connections behind recent militant activity.

In Swabi, however, the situation turned alarming when a drone exploded near a government girls’ higher secondary school in the mountainous village of Pabbini in Gadoon Amazai. The Swabi drone attack injured a schoolgirl while other children narrowly escaped harm. The incident happened as students were returning home, creating fear and chaos in the area.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Muhammad Numan confirmed the incident. He said a heavy police contingent rushed to the site immediately after the blast. The injured girl was shifted to the hospital for medical treatment. Residents gathered at the scene in shock as news of the explosion spread quickly.

Police officials believe the drone was locally assembled and carried explosives. ASP Numan stated that investigators are examining the debris to understand the drone’s design and destructive capability. Authorities are also trying to determine the intended target, although early signs suggest the girls’ school may have been on the radar.

Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that similar attempts were made in Abbottabad and Nowshera. He said the Abbottabad drone incident and Nowshera drone attempt were neutralized by the anti-drone system Pakistan has deployed to counter such threats. No casualties were reported in those cities.

The Drone Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have raised fresh concerns about security in the province. Officials say Pakistan security forces remain on high alert and are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further incidents.

Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that every effort is being made to ensure safety. While the anti-drone system Pakistan successfully prevented large-scale damage, the Swabi drone attack serves as a reminder of the evolving nature of militant threats in the region.
