NEW YORK: Pakistan has been elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for a four-year term starting in 2026 and ending in 2029.
The vote took place at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) headquarters in New York. Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN shared a statement confirming the country’s election.
In the statement, Pakistan expressed its deep gratitude to ECOSOC member states for their trust and support. The mission stated that Pakistan’s election to the CND reflects the global community’s confidence in the country’s role in global drug control.
Pakistan pledged to play an active part in shaping international narcotics regulation. The mission emphasized the country’s readiness to support the international agenda against drug production, trafficking, and abuse.
