Pakistan Exports to US Reach $3 Billion in First Six Months of Fiscal Year

Pakistan Exports to US Hit $3 Billion in Six Months

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports to the United States have recorded a notable increase during the first half of the current fiscal year, reaching $3 billion, according to official trade documents.

The data shows that Pakistan imported goods worth $1.62 billion from the US during the same six-month period, bringing the total bilateral trade volume to $4.61 billion. The trade balance remained in Pakistan’s favor, with a surplus of $1.36 billion.

Official figures reveal that Pakistan’s exports to the US registered a 3–4% increase compared to the same period last year. During the corresponding six months of the previous fiscal year, exports stood at approximately $2.90 billion, marking an increase of $89 million this year.

Textile exports continued to dominate Pakistan’s export basket to the US. Shipments of textile products rose by 4%, reaching $2.47 billion during the period under review.

Last fiscal year, Pakistan exported goods worth $5.28 billion to the US, while the total annual bilateral trade volume stood at $8.71 billion, making the United States one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners.

However, concerns are emerging after recent trade agreements between the US, European Union, and India. Analysts warn that Pakistani exports may face pressure due to tariff differences.

Currently, US tariffs on Pakistani products stand at 19%, compared to 18% on Indian goods, potentially impacting Pakistan’s competitiveness in the American market.

Experts believe that sustaining export growth will require policy support, diversification beyond textiles, and improved trade diplomacy.
