Pakistan and The Gambia have solidified their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors including trade, agriculture, education, and tourism. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad Dr. Mamadou Tangara, held on the sidelines of the 15th OIC Islamic Summit in Banjul.
During the meeting, both leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations, aiming to establish a platform for regular dialogue and collaboration between their respective foreign affairs ministries. This initiative is expected to reinforce the already robust ties between the two nations, characterized by religious affinities, mutual trust, and shared values.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar commended the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and The Gambia, emphasizing the importance of religious and cultural bonds. He also extended congratulations to The Gambia for successfully hosting the 15th OIC Islamic Summit.
The discussions between the leaders encompassed various facets of bilateral relations, with a shared commitment to furthering dialogue and cooperation, not only in trade, agriculture, education, and tourism but also in multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
