ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has declared official holidays nationwide to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
As per a notification from the Cabinet Division, the holiday period will begin on Wednesday, April 10, and conclude on Saturday, April 13, providing a four-day break for citizens to observe this sacred festival.
Eid-ul-Fitr holds great significance in the Islamic calendar as it marks the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan, with Muslims around the globe rejoicing in the culmination of their spiritual dedication.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has projected the sighting of the Shawwal moon on April 9, 2024, throughout the country.
The birth of the Shawwal moon is anticipated on the night of April 8, at 11:21 pm local time, with an approximate age of 19 to 20 hours on April 9. Naked-eye visibility is expected for around 50 minutes after sunset.
If the moon is sighted on April 9, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, according to the PMD.
