In a powerful show of unity, Iran’s Chief of Staff Major-General Abdolrahim Mousavi called Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Sunday. The Iranian commander expressed heartfelt thanks for Pakistan’s unwavering support during the recent Israel-Iran confrontation.
According to Iran’s state media, General Mousavi praised Pakistan’s bold and principled stance. He acknowledged Islamabad’s firm backing of Tehran during one of the region’s most intense military escalations. The conflict erupted on June 13, when Israel launched aggressive strikes against Iran. These attacks continued for twelve consecutive days.
General Mousavi admired the Pakistani leadership and people. He said their solidarity with Iran came at a critical time. Despite Iran’s losses, including the martyrdom of several senior commanders, Israel was eventually forced into a ceasefire. He credited this turn of events to Iran’s resistance and the moral backing from allies like Pakistan.
During the call, both generals talked about broader security issues. They discussed defense cooperation and regional peace. The Iranian commander also criticized the role of Western powers. He said countries like the United States supported Israel openly. At the same time, they spread propaganda against Iran.
The Iran-Pakistan friendship stood out during this crisis. As soon as Israel began its strikes in June, Pakistan strongly condemned the aggression. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke directly with the Iranian President. He assured him of Pakistan’s commitment to defend Iran on every global platform. This included support at the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reinforced the same message. He told his Iranian counterpart that Pakistan fully stood with the people of Iran.
Both Pakistan’s Defense and Foreign Ministries raised an important concern too. They warned the world about Israel’s nuclear weapons. They pointed out that Israel refuses to come under any global non-proliferation treaty. This, they said, poses a serious risk to international peace.
Pakistan-Iran relations have proven strong once again. In difficult times, both nations have stood side by side. Their mutual respect and regional cooperation have sent a clear message to the world.
