ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for an increase of Rs2.63 per unit in electricity prices.
Reports indicate that the electricity price per unit is likely to rise by Rs2.63, prompting the CPPA to file a revised application with NEPRA. The requested increase pertains to the monthly fuel price adjustment for June 2024, with a hearing scheduled for July 31.
It is notable that the CPPA had previously requested a smaller increase of Rs2.11 per unit.
According to the CPPA, 35.13 percent of electricity in June was generated from water, 11.06 percent from local coal, 1.95 percent from furnace oil, and 8.66 percent from local gas. Additionally, 18.10 percent of electricity was generated from imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) last month, while 14.85 percent came from nuclear fuel.
