Pakistan May Boycott T20 World Cup if Bangladesh Withdraws

Islamabad: Pakistan may consider boycotting the upcoming T20 World Cup if Bangladesh decides not to participate, sources said on Tuesday.

According to sources, Bangladesh is expected to take a final decision today on whether to play in the tournament. Several senior Bangladeshi players are reportedly in favour of participating, while the Bangladesh government is set to brief the team before announcing its stance.

The development comes a day after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected Bangladesh’s request to play matches outside India, stating that if Bangladesh wants to take part in the World Cup, it must play its matches in the host country, India.

Pakistan has already assured Bangladesh of its full support amid the situation.

Meanwhile, a cricket website reported that if Bangladesh refuses to travel to India, the ICC is considering including another team as a replacement in the tournament.

The situation has added uncertainty to the T20 World Cup, with regional teams closely watching Bangladesh’s final decision.
