KARACHI: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across the country from July 28 to 31.
According to the NDMA advisory, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea will enter the upper parts of the country today, bringing heavy rains during this period. The new monsoon system may result in flash floods.
Heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected to lash upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galliyat, Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. These rains could lead to flooding in torrents and streams, as well as landslides. Baluchistan, D.G. Khan, and Rajanpur in south Punjab are also at risk of flooding due to the heavy rains.
Karachi and other coastal districts of Sindh are experiencing cloudy weather today, with light rainfall or drizzle expected in different areas. The weather in Karachi will remain cloudy and humid over the next 24 hours, with a maximum temperature potentially reaching 35 degrees Celsius and 70 percent humidity. Winds are blowing at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour, according to the Met Office.
A wet spell is continuing in various cities of Punjab, with heavy rainfall reported in Gujrat, Daska, and Wazirabad. Quetta, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to experience rainfall.
