ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar engaged in discussions with his counterpart from Niger, Bakary Yaou Sangare, during a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in Banjul, The Gambia. The exchange focused on a broad spectrum of issues, with both sides expressing their commitment to bolster bilateral dialogue and cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere.
The meeting also delved into the coordination efforts within the OIC framework, with both parties affirming their dedication to collaborating closely to advance collective interests within the OIC and beyond. Deputy Prime Minister Dar acknowledged Niger’s consistent support for Pakistan on various regional and international platforms, as well as its unwavering stance on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Foreign Minister Sangare reiterated Niger’s steadfast position on the Kashmir issue, emphasizing solidarity with Pakistan’s stance on the international stage.
In a separate development, Pakistan and The Gambia also underscored their mutual intent to enhance high-level dialogue and cooperation across diverse sectors, including trade, agriculture, education, and tourism. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, also on the sidelines of the 15th OIC Islamic Summit in Banjul. During this meeting, the leaders further solidified their commitment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations.
