ISLAMABAD: The government has announced a hike in the fees for fast-track passport categories. Reports from the media indicate that starting May 8, 2024, a 36-page machine-readable passport, valid for five years, will cost Rs12,500. For passports with 72 pages, the fee will be Rs18,500, and for those with 100 pages, it will be Rs23,000.
For a ten-year machine-readable passport, the fees will be Rs16,200, Rs25,200, and Rs32,000 for 36, 72, and 100 pages respectively.
This increase comes after a previous hike in passport fees by the Directorate General of Passports and Immigration on March 6 this year. However, there were complaints about delayed passport deliveries despite the fee increase.
Notably, the fee for a five-year, 36-page normal passport has been raised to Rs4,000, with an urgent passport costing Rs7,500. For a ten-year passport, the fee is Rs6,700, while an urgent issuance will cost Rs11,200.
