ISLAMABAD:
A nationwide crackdown on electricity theft has led to the recovery of 105 billion rupees and the arrest of over 83,000 individuals involved in power theft. This operation is part of the combined efforts of the government and military leadership to revive the national economy and address the electricity crisis.
Recent data shows that from June 30 to July 17, authorities recovered over 1.63 billion rupees from electricity thieves in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad. An additional 430 million rupees were collected from Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Quetta.
The authorities are committed to continuing these operations until electricity theft is completely eradicated across the country. This initiative is considered a crucial step in stabilizing the national economy and resolving the ongoing power crisis.
