President Dr. Arif Alvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during discussions with Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Sun Weidong, in Islamabad.
Stressing the crucial role of Chinese support in the next phase of CPEC for Pakistan’s industrial development, President Alvi emphasized that economic cooperation would strengthen bilateral ties and appreciated China’s support in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.
President Alvi expressed gratitude for China’s steadfast friendship and support during challenging times, highlighting the positive impact of CPEC projects on Pakistan’s economic development and energy needs.
He expressed a desire for Pakistan to learn from Chinese experiences in various sectors such as IT, education, health, agriculture, and poverty alleviation for socio-economic development.
The President reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting China on core issues, including the ‘One China’ Policy, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea.
He thanked China for its support on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and acknowledged China’s role in Pakistan’s national development.
Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong acknowledged the long history of friendly relations between Pakistan and China, predicting that the ties would continue to strengthen.
He highlighted the fruitful results of CPEC and emphasized the vast potential for increased cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
