Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has dismissed as false a claim made by Afghanistan’s Taliban regime regarding a recent border clash, accusing Kabul of spreading propaganda instead of reporting facts.
According to the ministry, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence had, in what it called a familiar pattern, alleged that a Pakistani border post near Spin Boldak was destroyed during the confrontation. The Afghan side further claimed that its forces suffered no casualties in the incident.
Pakistani officials rejected this version of events outright, describing the Taliban’s statement as entirely fabricated and without basis in fact.
What Actually Happened in the Gulistan Sector
Per the ministry’s account, Afghan forces attempted an act of aggression in the Gulistan sector during the night between September 24 and 25. Pakistani troops repelled the attempt, inflicting heavy damage on Taliban border posts in the process.
The ministry stated that at least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed in the exchange, with several others wounded. Visual evidence of the incident, including photos and videos, has already been broadcast by media outlets and has since circulated widely across social media platforms.
Ministry Says Pattern of Misinformation Is Nothing New
Officials noted that this is not the first time Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence has attempted to distort facts surrounding a border clash. The ministry pointed out that the Taliban regime has a history of issuing misleading or false statements about such confrontations, adding that this latest attempt to twist the narrative comes as no surprise given that track record.
The incident adds to a string of tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, with both sides continuing to offer conflicting accounts of confrontations in sectors like Spin Boldak and Gulistan. Pakistan’s government has reiterated that it will continue to counter what it describes as disinformation from Kabul with verified evidence and official statements.
