ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed a keen interest in bolstering bilateral relations and cooperation with Moscow across various domains, notably in trade, energy, and investment. This sentiment was conveyed during a meeting with Ambassador Albert P. Khorev of Russia, as reported by the PM Office Media Wing on Saturday.
During the interaction, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt condolences for the recent tragic loss of lives in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack near Moscow. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Russia during this difficult time.
Emphasizing the importance of advancing collaboration, the Prime Minister called for the prompt convening of the 9th session of the Inter-governmental Commission (IGC), scheduled to be hosted by Russia this year.
Shehbaz Sharif urged Russian counterparts to dispatch a delegation to Pakistan for discussions aimed at identifying avenues for enhancing bilateral investment and trade ties.
Reflecting on their previous meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Samarkand in 2022, the Prime Minister reiterated his invitation for Russian President Putin to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude for President Putin’s congratulatory message on his re-election.
In response, the Russian envoy assured the Prime Minister of Russia’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Pakistan, highlighting Moscow’s interest in expanding cooperation beyond trade, energy, and investment to encompass culture and education.
