RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan-Russia Joint Exercise Druzhba-VII is the seventh bilateral joint exercise focused on counter-terrorism between the armies of Pakistan and Russia, said a military statement issued on Tuesday.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two-week exercise began on October 13, 2024, at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Pabbi area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The exercise featuring the participation of Light Commando Troops from the Pakistan Army and a Russian military contingent.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Commandant of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, who served as the Chief Guest.
The exercise is aimed to enhance professional skills through joint training while strengthening the historic military-to-military relations between the two friendly nations. Participating troops are eager to benefit from each other’s expertise and experience.
Earlier today, the Italian Navy Carrier Strike Group, consisting of the aircraft carrier ITS CAVOUR and the frigate ITS ALPINO, arrived in Karachi for a three-day visit.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Italian Navy ships received a warm welcome from senior officials of the Pakistan Navy and the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan.
The ISPR reported that a delegation from Italy, led by Ambassador Marilina Armellin, met with Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest and explored future collaboration to enhance regional maritime security and defense cooperation.
