Pakistan’s military announced on Thursday that the country has signed a contract to sell JF-17 Block III (Thunder) fighter jets to Azerbaijan. The agreement aims to enhance Azerbaijan’s air power, as confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Azerbaijan’s President, Ilham Aliyev, was briefed on the combat capabilities of the JF-17 Thunder during his visit in July. Developed through a joint venture between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra (PAC) and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC), the JF-17 is a lightweight fighter equipped with advanced air-to-air and air-to-surface combat capabilities.
The agreement is expected to strengthen relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, with Azerbaijan’s Air Force already integrating the jets into its arsenal.
