Pakistan and Russia have officially signed an agreement focused on the Pakistan Steel Mills revival. The deal marks a major move to enhance industrial cooperation between the two nations.
The announcement came after a high-level Pakistani delegation visited Moscow. The team was led by Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar.
During the visit, officials from both countries signed a formal protocol to restore and modernize Pakistan Steel Mills. The signing ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Secretary for Industries and Production and senior Russian representatives.
This Pakistan Steel Mills revival plan involves Russian technical and financial assistance. Under the agreement, Russia will support efforts to upgrade the outdated steel plant.
Haroon Akhtar called the agreement a turning point for Pakistan’s industrial progress. He said the partnership with Russia would open a new chapter in the country’s manufacturing sector.
He also emphasized that the restoration of the steel mills reflects Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for national industrial growth.
According to Akhtar, the modernization of Pakistan Steel will not only improve production capacity but will also create thousands of jobs.
He called the accord a milestone for Pakistan’s economic future. “This is more than a business deal—it’s a foundation for long-term industrial development,” he said.
The revival of Pakistan Steel Mills is expected to boost economic confidence and reduce dependency on imported steel.
Officials believe this partnership will lead to stronger bilateral ties between Islamabad and Moscow.
With this historic move, Pakistan hopes to turn its once-defunct steel giant into a modern, productive, and globally competitive enterprise.
The steel sector development deal with Russia is being seen as a fresh start for Pakistan’s long-stalled heavy industry.
