MoFA clarified that terrorists of Pakistani origin, self-identifying as ‘Sarmarchars,’ had found safe havens and sanctuaries in Iran. Concerns regarding these terrorists had been communicated to Iran through diplomatic channels over the past few years.
While acknowledging Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the statement underscored that Pakistan took Thursday’s action in the interest of its own national security. The commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the Pakistani people was reiterated, emphasizing that such measures are paramount, inviolable, and sacred.
Pakistan had previously asserted its right to retaliate, with the statement concluding that any consequences resulting from the operation would be the responsibility of Iran.
