Pakistan struck militant hideouts in Afghanistan and carried out an intelligence-based operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 29 militants linked to Jamaatul Ahrar, according to the military.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the actions were part of Operation Ghazb-lil-Haq, an ongoing campaign against militants.
The military said security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where four militants were killed. Among those killed was high-value commander Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal, along with three other members of Jamaatul Ahrar.
The ISPR said additional operations targeted militant hideouts and safe havens in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces. During these operations, security forces destroyed three militant bases, killing 25 militants and injuring several others.
According to the military, the operations were launched in response to recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Karachi.
The security forces reiterated their resolve to eliminate terrorism and counter militant groups operating with foreign support.
