Islamabad: Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani emphatically rejected the recent judgment by the Supreme Court of India regarding the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Jilani emphasized that the endorsement of India’s actions in 2019 is a distortion of justice based on historical and legal inaccuracies.
He highlighted that India’s attempts to annex IIOJK are destined to fail. The judgment overlooks the internationally recognized disputed nature of the region.
Jalil Abbas Jilani stressed that India’s unilateral measures since August 5, 2019, aimed at altering the demographic and political landscape of IIOJK, are in clear violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolutions.
He expressed grave concern over the systematic human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, emphasizing that the judgment does not divert the world’s attention from these atrocities.

The Foreign Minister underscored that the judgment cannot substitute the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, dismissing restoration of statehood or elections as insufficient.
He urged the international community to take note of the situation and called for the reversal of India’s measures to create an environment conducive to peace and dialogue.
Jalil Abbas Jilani concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of IIOJK in their pursuit of the inalienable right to self-determination.
