ISLAMABAD: Electricity prices are anticipated to rise nationwide, including Karachi, due to adjustments in the first quarter of the financial year. Discos have requested the transfer of an additional burden of Rs22.56 billion to consumers, applicable to electric consumers from July to September.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a revision notice, maintaining a uniform tariff as per government guidelines. NEPRA will review the first quarter adjustment application on November 14.
The companies are seeking permission to collect Rs12.126 billion in capacity charges, Rs10.247 billion under use of system charges, Rs4.680 billion for operation and maintenance, and Rs6.670 billion for damages.
