Pakistan, UAE Join Hands to Accelerate Cashless Economy and Digital Transformation

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have decided to boost cooperation in building a cashless economy. Both countries pledged to share knowledge, expertise, and technical support to speed up digital transformation and expand financial innovation.

The announcement followed a high-level consultative meeting between the two nations on advancing the cashless economy. Pakistan was represented by Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, while the UAE delegation was led by Minister of State Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini.

During the session, UAE officials delivered a detailed presentation on their digital payments and receipts system. They explained how the UAE’s digital framework has improved efficiency, expanded financial inclusion, and strengthened governance. Their experiences in building a digital economy were shared as a model for cooperation.

Pakistani officials welcomed the briefing and acknowledged its importance. They stressed that such insights would play a vital role as Pakistan works toward its own cashless economy.

The Pakistani side also highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for financial modernization. Delegates pointed out that the premier has been committed to promoting digital financial systems and adopting modern governance practices. They linked the progress of a cashless society to these initiatives.

Both countries agreed that technical teams would continue to collaborate. The focus will remain on digital payments, governance reforms, and innovation in financial technology.

The meeting also reviewed progress in digital governance already achieved through joint efforts between Pakistan and the UAE. Officials agreed that closer cooperation would help strengthen institutions and accelerate the shift toward cashless economies in both nations.

Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani expressed his appreciation to the UAE leadership for openly sharing experiences in digital transformation. He said Pakistan deeply values this partnership and looks forward to expanding collaboration in finance, governance, and technology.

The joint commitment signals a new chapter in Pakistan-UAE relations, where the cashless economy will serve as a central pillar of development.
