MANAMA: The Pakistan volleyball team made a powerful statement on Monday. They defeated Qatar in straight sets to reach the final of the AVC Nations Cup. The semi-final clash was held at the Isa Sports City Hall, in front of an energetic crowd of 1,200 spectators.
This match was a repeat of last year’s final. Back then, Qatar had beaten Pakistan to lift the AVC Challenge Cup. But this time, the tables turned.
From the very first set, Pakistan’s volleyball squad looked focused and aggressive. They edged past Qatar 25-22 with fierce attacks and tactical play. The second set was intense. Both sides pushed hard. But once again, the Green Shirts claimed it 25-22.
The third set saw a confident finish. Pakistan closed the match 25-21, sealing a 3-0 win. The Pakistani spikers showed discipline, unity, and sharp teamwork throughout the game.
Usman Faryad Ali and Murad Khan led the charge. Their explosive attacks played a vital role in the commanding victory.
Before this, Pakistan’s national volleyball team earned a spot in the semi-final after beating Indonesia 3-1 in the quarterfinal. They came from behind after losing the first set 20-25. They bounced back with scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-17.
In the group stage, Team Pakistan dominated Chinese Taipei and the Philippines. Their solid performance in these matches helped them move smoothly to the knockout round.
The final of the AVC Nations Cup will be played tomorrow. Pakistan will face either South Korea or host nation Bahrain.
This prestigious event is being held in Manama, from June 17 to 24. A total of 12 teams are competing. The participating countries include Pakistan, Bahrain, Qatar, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam, and New Zealand.
The AVC Nations Cup is not just a championship. It’s also a qualifying round for the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship. It offers world ranking points. Top performers may earn spots in the 2027 FIVB World Championships and even the 2028 Olympic Games.
With this brilliant win, the Pakistan volleyball team has made its presence felt. Now, they stand one match away from lifting the cup and possibly making history.
