In a groundbreaking move, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan will ease its visa policy for international cricket fans during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the Champions T20 Cup.
The highly anticipated tournament will start on February 19, 2025, in Karachi. It will feature eight teams competing in 15 matches, held across venues in Pakistan and Dubai. The minister highlighted that these relaxed visa measures are designed to encourage tourism and showcase Pakistan’s rich culture. He urged cricket enthusiasts to express their love for the sport by attending the event.
Tarar praised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its meticulous preparations. He also addressed concerns about India’s participation, emphasizing that “sports should remain separate from politics.” Although most matches will take place in Pakistan, India is expected to play all its games in Dubai due to current political tensions.
Matches in Pakistan will be held in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. The final is scheduled for March 9 in Lahore. However, if India qualifies for the final, the venue will shift to Dubai. The tournament will open with a thrilling match between Pakistan and New Zealand.
The minister called on local fans to extend a warm welcome to visiting teams. He expressed optimism for an exciting competition and urged spectators to support their favorite players.
