MARDAN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took a swipe at electables joining Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, stating that those joining the ‘Inflation Party’ will face electoral repercussions.
Without naming the PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal pointed out that a person is in search of electables but those joining the ‘Inflation Party’ will pay the cost in the upcoming general elections, scheduled for February 8.
He was addressing a workers’ convention of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan city.
The PPP Chairman said that the people of Pakistan will no longer tolerate a ‘selected Raj’ (selected government). Bilawal referred to Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to Quetta, during which more than 30 prominent political figures, including members from BAB, PTI, National Party, and Balochistan National Party, joined the PML-N.
These remarks by the PPP chairman seemed to allude to Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Quetta, where numerous politicians from Balochistan aligned with the PML-N.
Bilawal Bhutto emphasized the detrimental impact of traditional or old politics, labeling it as the country’s ‘worst enemy,’ and advocated for embracing ‘new politics’ to address national challenges.
Expressing regret, Bhutto highlighted the fixation of veteran politicians on the past, overlooking the present and future. He underscored the PPP’s commitment to abandoning divisive, hateful, and abusive elements of traditional politics that have persisted for seven decades.
Addressing the country’s current economic challenges, Bhutto acknowledged historical inflation, poverty, and unemployment levels. He declared that the PPP’s primary competition is against inflation, unemployment, and poverty.
Bilawal Bhutto concluded by expressing confidence in the success of the PPP’s slogan and manifesto on February 8, foreseeing that the next prime minister and chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will emerge from his party.
