Pakistan, World Bank sign $100m agreement for Sindh solar energy project

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and World Bank signed an agreement worth one hundred million dollars for “Sindh Solar Energy Project” in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed by Federal Secretary Economic Affairs Division, Noor Ahmed, Sindh Secretary Energy Department, Musadiq Ahmed Khan and Country Director, World Bank, Patchamuthu Ilangovan.
The objective of the project is to increase solar power generation and access to electricity in Sindh Province.
The project will support deployment of solar power in Sindh spanning three market segments: utility scale, distributed generation, and at the household level.
International Development Association will provide one hundred million dollars financing for the project while Sindh government will contribute five million dollars for it.
