Sharjah, UAE, November 9, 2024 — His Excellency Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, participated in the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), enhancing cultural and literary ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
In a key meeting with His Excellency Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), Ambassador Tirmizi expressed gratitude for SBA’s inclusion of Pakistani authors and publishers at SIBF. Mr. Al Ameri lauded Pakistan’s rich literary heritage and highlighted the Sharjah Lightningsource initiative, a platform enabling global authors, including those from Pakistan, to share their work internationally.
Ambassador Tirmizi praised SBA’s work in promoting literacy and emphasized the Embassy’s commitment to fostering further Pakistani participation in future events. He also met with His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi of Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, discussing UAE’s support for publishers and the growth of Sharjah as a cultural hub.
Ambassador Tirmizi’s visit included engagements with Pakistani publishers and distributors, applauding their contributions to promoting Urdu literature. At the Urdu Book World stall, he commended Mr. Sarmad Khan for his dedication to Urdu. He also engaged with distributors such as Ink and Pixels Publications, Darussalam International LLC, and Qudrat Ullah Company Publications.
The Ambassador showed special interest in the Ibn Al Arabi Foundation’s publication by Shah Wali Ullah Mohaddis Dehlivi, originally published by the Rahimia Institute in Lahore, now distributed internationally.
Ambassador Tirmizi’s visit highlighted a shared vision for literary exchange and mutual cultural enrichment between Pakistan and the UAE, marking a significant step toward stronger cultural ties.
