Lahore: Former and current Pakistani cricketers have rejected reports of alleged fraud, saying they had made investments in a private company and that no fraud has occurred so far.
In a joint stance, the players said the company remains in contact with them and has assured that all pending payments will be cleared by March. They clarified that only two cheques were returned, adding that the matter is being resolved.
The cricketers also confirmed that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi contacted them regarding the issue. They said they informed him that there is no serious problem at present and that they would update the board if the situation changes.
According to the players, the company’s owner is currently based in Dubai and has remained in communication, while firm assurances regarding payments have been given.
Earlier reports had claimed that the cricketers had not filed any formal complaint on any platform over the alleged fraud, nor had they approached the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for intervention.
Sources had also suggested that several cricketers, including former and current captains, invested after following the lead of a former skipper, while some made direct investments with the businessman. The investments were reportedly made in pursuit of unusually high returns.
