Salomatdin Jabbor Yusufi, First Deputy Minister of Health of Tajikistan, emphasized the significant contribution of Pakistani medical students in boosting bilateral cooperation and fostering people-to-people connections. Currently, around 450 Pakistani students are enrolled in Tajik universities, including Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU), which provides modern facilities and education meeting international standards.
Tajikistan is positioning itself as a regional hub for affordable, high-quality medical education. Both countries are exploring collaboration across clinical services, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telemedicine, insurance, and public health. Pakistani private sector investment in establishing hospitals and clinics in Tajikistan is actively encouraged.
Looking ahead to 2026, plans include expanding medical education exchanges, promoting medical tourism, and developing joint ventures. Recent high-level discussions have advanced MoUs in education and healthcare. ATSMU now operates two academic sessions annually, enabling Pakistani students to complete their studies more efficiently while further strengthening bilateral relations.
