Pakistani security forces successfully eliminated 11 militants in four separate operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed these engagements took place between March 26 and 27.
According to ISPR, an intelligence-based operation was launched in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district. Security forces targeted a terrorist hideout, killing five militants on the spot. In another operation in the same region, three more terrorists were neutralized by troops.
Meanwhile, in Miran Shah, another terrorist attack led to a confrontation with security forces. Soldiers swiftly responded, eliminating two militants in the encounter. The fourth operation occurred in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan district, where one terrorist was taken down.
Weapons and ammunition were seized from the neutralized militants. ISPR stated that these terrorists had been actively involved in multiple violent acts. After the operations, security forces launched further sanitization efforts to clear the areas of any remaining threats. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan.
Last week, security forces intercepted a major terrorist attack at the Afghan border. A group of militants attempted to cross into Pakistan via North Waziristan’s Ghulam Khan Kallay area. Troops detected and engaged them, killing at least 16 terrorists.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021. Law enforcement and security personnel remain primary targets.
In January 2025 alone, militant activities surged by 42% compared to December 2024, as per the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). The report documented 74 terrorist attacks nationwide. These incidents led to 91 deaths, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. Another 117 individuals were injured, comprising 53 security forces personnel, 54 civilians, and 10 terrorists.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained the most affected province, followed by Balochistan. In KP’s settled districts, militants carried out 27 attacks, resulting in 19 deaths, including 11 security personnel and six civilians. Meanwhile, the tribal districts saw 19 attacks, causing 46 fatalities. Among the deceased were 13 security personnel, eight civilians, and 25 militants.
Security forces continue their operations, vowing to eliminate the terrorist threat and restore peace in the region.
