Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic Gold has been hailed as a national pride by Army Chief General Asim Munir. The athlete, who brought home Pakistan’s first gold medal in 40 years, was honored at a special ceremony at GHQ.
According to ISPR, General Asim Munir organized this event to celebrate Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic Gold achievement. Olympians from the 1984 games, national hockey and cricket teams, and other sports legends joined the celebration.
ISPR reported that the ceremony also included the street football team, the army polo team, the visually impaired cricket team, and the women’s goalball team. Commonwealth medalists, SAF Games participants, and hopefuls for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Asian Games were present too.
The Army Chief called Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic Gold a symbol of national pride. He praised the athlete’s determination and spirit, which led to this remarkable success. National sports legends like Jahangir Khan, Islahuddin, Shahbaz Sr., Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Asif, and Aisam-ul-Haq also attended the event.
