Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions.
According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders exchanged views on regional developments. Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s full support for efforts aimed at reducing tensions and resolving the Iran-Israel conflict through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.
Referring to the recent attacks in the region, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for all parties to respect international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Sharif also commended Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his wise leadership and tireless efforts toward restoring peace in the region. He said these efforts reflect Saudi Arabia’s global standing as a guarantor of peace and a leading voice in the Muslim world.
In addition, Prime Minister Sharif thanked the Crown Prince for Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Pakistan, especially in matters concerning India. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue with India on all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty.
In response, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman thanked Prime Minister Sharif for his call and appreciated Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in seeking a peaceful resolution to the ongoing regional crisis. The Crown Prince reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to long-term peace and prosperity in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday. The two discussed the fast-changing dynamics in the Middle East and shared views on promoting regional peace and cooperation.
In a separate statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan welcomed efforts to revive dialogue and diplomacy in the region. It emphasized that lasting regional peace can only be achieved by adhering to the UN Charter and avoiding the use of force. Pakistan pledged continued support for all peace-promoting initiatives.
