ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile sector has achieved significant growth, with exports rising by 10.44% to $6.146 billion during the first four months of the fiscal year, compared to $5.565 billion in the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Total exports from July to October reached $10.889 billion, marking a 13.55% increase from $9.590 billion in the previous year. October alone recorded $2.984 billion in exports, up by 5.22% from September and 10.97% year-on-year.
Textile exports in October grew by 13.11%, amounting to $1.625 billion, showing a modest 1.30% increase from September.
However, cotton yarn exports struggled, plummeting by 45.59% from July to October. October offered a slight recovery with a 13.83% increase to $59.180 million compared to September, although still 35.79% lower year-on-year.
Key contributors in October were knitwear at Rs136,359 million, readymade garments at Rs100,547 million, and rice at Rs81,544 million, along with bed wear and cotton cloth.
