The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, announced the formation of the new selection committee for the national cricket team during a press conference held in Lahore on Sunday.
Naqvi stated that the selection committee has been restructured and will now comprise seven members. Notably, there won’t be a designated chairman within this committee.
The newly formed selection committee includes Muhammad Yusuf, Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, along with the head coach, captain, and an analyst. Each member of this committee will have equal authority, and decisions will be made collectively after thorough consultation.
Naqvi also mentioned ongoing efforts regarding the selection of coaches. Once finalized, the names of the appointed coaches will be disclosed within the next four to five days. The coaching setup will involve a blend of national and international coaching expertise.
In terms of player contracts, Naqvi confirmed that Harris Rauf’s central contract has been reinstated. Regarding the captaincy, discussions are ongoing within the selection committee, and the captain will be chosen after consultations with both the committee members and the coaching staff.
