The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has released detailed information regarding electricity load shedding in the province.
According to PESCO officials, the province has over 1300 feeders. Among these, 156 feeders experience only two hours of load shedding. For 135 feeders with 20 to 30 percent losses, six-hour load shedding is implemented. Additionally, 96 feeders with 30 to 40 percent losses face seven hours of load shedding.
The PESCO management highlighted that 143 feeders suffer from 40 to 60 percent losses, resulting in 12 hours of load shedding. Feeders with 60 to 80 percent losses, totaling 157, endure 16 hours of load shedding. The worst-affected are the 159 feeders with over 80 percent losses, facing 20 hours of load shedding.
PESCO’s spokesperson stated that urban areas experience four to six hours of load shedding, while suburban areas undergo up to 16 hours of load shedding.
The officials attributed the extensive load shedding to high losses due to power theft and non-payment of dues, making increased load management on such feeders inevitable.
